Brett Nelson

Co-Founder and Managing Partner

Brett Nelson is Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Gabriel Horn Capital. He has 23+ years of experience in alternative investments, managing global fundraising sales and investing $8B+ across funds and co-investments.

He co-founded Bright Harbor Advisors, where he provided placement advisory services spanning fundraising, due diligence, and transaction negotiation for private equity funds, buyouts, and venture capital, and advised on secondary sales and fund restructuring. Previously, he was Principal & Head of Global Private Equity at Aon Hewitt, where he founded and led the firm's Secondary Market Services as President & CEO. He also held a Principal role at INVESCO Private Capital, focusing on private equity partnerships and secondaries. He began his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers in corporate finance.

Brett holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Villanova University and an MBA from LeBow College of Business at Drexel University. He also completed continuing education in Management at the University of Pennsylvania. He holds Series 7, 63, 65, and 39 licenses.

Co-Founder and Managing Partner

Jonathan D. LaCrosse is Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Gabriel Horn Capital, where he advises private equity firms, independent sponsors, and private companies on institutional capital formation, including fundraises, direct equity investments, and debt financings. He has more than 25 years of alternative investment experience.

He has invested more than $4 billion in private markets and helped raise more than $4.5 billion of institutional capital. His experience on both sides of the investment process, as an institutional limited partner, investment firm founder, entrepreneur, and placement advisor, provides a differentiated perspective on how investors evaluate managers and investment opportunities. Prior to Gabriel Horn Capital, he founded LaCrosse Investments 374, a boutique placement firm that raised more than $4.5 billion for over 15 private equity funds and more than 10 independent sponsor transactions from institutional investors and family offices. He also co-founded and served as President and CEO of Trusted Insight, an institutional investment network and alternative investment marketplace connecting more than 400 institutional investors across 90 countries, and helped secure the company's venture financing. Earlier, he was a Founding Partner of Centinela Capital Partners, an institutional investment firm managing approximately $1 billion, where he participated in the approval of more than $825 million across 41 private equity investments. He began his institutional investing career at the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, where he spent approximately 12 years as an Investment Officer and led the sourcing, due diligence, and monitoring of more than $3.1 billion across 121 private market investments.

Jonathan holds an MBA from Rider University and a B.S. from Rowan University. He maintains FINRA Series 7, 63, and 79 securities licenses. Throughout his career, he has served on more than 35 boards and fund advisory committees.

Managing Director

Michael Wren is Managing Director of Gabriel Horn Capital. He has 15+ years of experience in the investment industry, including 10+ years in outsourced placement across a wide range of strategies.

Previously, he was Managing Director at Hamersley Partners LLC, a boutique sales and marketing firm for traditional and alternative managers across the U.S. and Canada, where he helped raise $4.5B+ from institutional investors. He also held roles at Parker Point Capital in institutional marketing and at Brighton House Associates, where he managed a research analyst team. He began his career in retail sales and client service roles at John Hancock Distributors and Evergreen Investments.

Michael holds a BA in History from Salve Regina University. He holds Series 6, 7, and 63 licenses.

Juan Lopez Jr.

Senior Vice President

Juan Lopez Jr. is Senior Vice President of Gabriel Horn Capital. He has over 25 years of institutional investment management experience.

Previously, he was at Health Innovation Capital, leading investor relations and impact investment initiatives. He also served as Senior Investment Officer for the Municipal Employees' Annuity and Benefit Fund of Chicago (MEABF) and as Investment Officer for the Teachers' Retirement System of the State of Illinois (IL TRS), where he led the plan's $1B Emerging Managers Program.

Juan holds a BS in Finance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and an MBA from the University of Chicago, where he was a Robert Toigo Fellow. He is a CAIA charter holder and holds Series 7, 63, and 65 licenses.

Senior Vice President

Cathleen Adams is Senior Vice President of Gabriel Horn Capital, based in Atlanta, GA. She has 25 years of institutional investment experience across prominent investment management firms.

Previously, she was with UBS Financial Services in business development, marketing, and investor relations. She served as Executive Vice President of Operations at Banyan Investment Group, building the operational platform that enabled the firm to scale, and as Managing Director at Connors & Co. Investment Services, an Atlanta-based placement agent, where she helped raise $9B+ in defined benefit pension assets.

Cathleen holds a BBA in Finance from the University of Georgia and an MBA from Mercer University. She holds Series 7 and 63 licenses.

Jimmy Montgomery

Vice President

Jimmy Montgomery is Vice President of Gabriel Horn Capital, based in Nashville, TN. He supports capital-raising across private equity, venture capital, private credit, and real asset strategies, working with institutional allocators, RIAs, family offices, and high-net-worth investors.

Previously, he led Investor Relations at Alto Securities, the alternative investment broker-dealer subsidiary of AltoIRA, and was a founding member of the placement team responsible for 62% of the capital invested into the firm's Regulation D offerings. Earlier, he was Business Development Director at Trilliant Health.

Jimmy holds a BA in Economics and Entrepreneurship from the University of Michigan. He holds Series 7 and 63 licenses.
